🚧 Smooth Sailing on Emancipation Avenue

Residents, business owners, and visitors are now enjoying a smooth ride along Emancipation Avenue! 

The project includes:

• Subsurface repairs 
• A fresh asphalt surface
• New sidewalks, curbs and ramps 
  
• New striping and lane markings

Status:

From Pierce to McGowen, crews have finished installing new sidewalks, ramps, and gutters. Milling—the process of removing the top layer of worn asphalt to prepare for a new surface—and subsurface repairs are completed. Any final touches, including sodding are underway. Once the asphalt cures, new striping and lane markings to improve visibility and safety will be the final step to complete this important project.

🏢102 Additional Senior Residences Opening Summer 2027

The William A. Lawson Institute for Peace and Prosperity (WALIPP) Senior Resident Expansion will deliver 102 one-bedroom apartments for seniors 55+. The affordable property will consist of 3 separate buildings on 3 non-contiguous vacant sites owned by WALLIP.  OST/Almeda Corridors Redevelopment Authority will support the project by providing tax increment reimbursements towards the essential public infrastructure required to build the units, including a right-sized water line and additional fire hydrants required by the City of Houston. 

🛡️Security Cameras Coming to the Columbia Tap Trail

In the coming weeks, we’ll be issuing a formal request for proposals to install security cameras along the Columbia Tap Trail. Enhancing safety on the trail is a top priority for our community, and this infrastructure investment will play a major role in creating a more secure experience for everyone. 🌙National Night Out in the Tre

Our team loved meeting so many community members at National Night Out held at Emancipation Park in October. In the shadow of the Centennial Oak Tree (pictured), we signed folks up for our newsletter, answered questions about upcoming projects, and showed before and after images of our initiatives over the years.
